The numbers

Width, height, corners.

ICAO takes them from ISO/IEC 7810: "85.60 mm (3.370 in) wide by 53.98 mm (2.125 in) high", corners of radius 3.18 mm (0.125 in).1

How much a real card can differ

For travel cards, ICAO allows edges between 84.85 × 53.25 mm and 86.35 × 54.75 mm, tolerances unlike ISO/IEC 7810's.1 A real card can read a few tenths off.

Why such odd numbers

It was drawn in inches.

ISO notes the design was made in imperial units, and that the metric and imperial figures are rounded.3

Inches × 25.4 = millimeters, rounded to two decimals

Width3.370 in85.598 mm85.60 mm
Height2.125 in53.975 mm53.98 mm
Corner radius0.125 in3.175 mm3.18 mm

"85.6 × 54 mm" and "3.375 × 2.125 in" are roundings too. For a true-size copy, use 85.60 × 53.98 mm.

In pixels

Pixels depend on the resolution.

Multiply 3.370 × 2.125 in by the dots per inch, and round.
